This GIF totally conveys NYC. Busy fast pace business men. It makes me feel a little anxious. I reminds me of being in the city and rushing to get to places. -Enjoy your summer!!
I too enjoy the speed of the gif. It reads comically. I would also consider making a second one where you crop down the image (so the moving margins are not there to distract), and try one where the people are walking slower. I wonder if it would lose its message... if a new message would emerge?
My eyes are first drawn to the left-hand side, with the moving edges. The speed of mens' movement across the street, along with the blurred, frozen cars creates this effect that reminds me of static. My mind drifts to radio static, or the actual feeling of static on older tvs under your fingertips - that fuzziness. There is a timelessness to the quiet busyness of the moment. It's a truly "New York" .gif.
The fast speed in which the guys are walking in is very interesting. It's not the normal speed of a human so it grabbed my attention first. Then I noticed the faint suggestions of the cars passing by beside the walking men. But what I found the most interesting is the way the ground underneath the men sort of wobbles. It makes for a very odd but cool effect. If I look away, I remember the walking men.
